News & Announcements

Veterans Day Events

RTKY1 will be participating in several Veterans Day events this year. On November 7, we will be riding in the annual Veterans Days parade in Owensboro, Kentucky. This is the longest running Veterans Day parade in the country. We will also be participating in two Veterans Day school programs this year. The first one will be the South Middle School program in Henderson, Kentucky and the second will be the Apollo High School program in Owensboro, Kentucky. Members can choose to participate in either event. The program at South Middle School will include the tiger cage and POW/MIA display materials. The program at Apollo High School will include an unveiling of a shadow box honoring alumni who has been killed in action. Members need to watch their emails for details about all of these events.

Dues are Due

Our Treasurer, Carol, is now accepting dues for 2016. Please see Carol at the November meeting to pay.

Western Kentucky Veterans Center Christmas Visit

RTKY1 will once again visit the residents of the Western Kentucky Veterans Center for Christmas on Saturday, December 12th. We will pass out Christmas cards made by area school children. If you have any games, puzzles, magazines or books you would like to donate, please bring them with you. Details will be available at the November meeting. There will be no December meeting so all members can participate in this event.

New Meeting Location

RTKY1 meetings will now take place at the new American Legion Post 9 in Owensboro. The address is 736 Frederica across the street from Brescia University in the old Blue Parrot building. The meetings are still on the second Saturday of the month. The board meeting begins at 2:00 pm, and the general membership meeting begins at 3:30 pm.
